Celtic have been told to increase their offer for Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp. The 26-year-old had been hoping to complete a move to Glasgow after talks between his club SK Brann and Celtic earlier this week.
“When Erik signed a new contract Brann promised him that if any club came in for him from outside Norway they would help him make the move” – Erik Huseklepp’s father, Ingvald
However, those discussions would appear to have now broken down after the Norwegian club initially wanted a £1million fee plus £500,000 in add-ons, but then increased that figure to £2m. Celtic in turn responded with a £600,000 offer which was immediately rejected.
And Huseklepp has since demanded talks with his club in a bid to force them into accepting the Hoops’ offer.
“When Erik signed a new contract Brann promised him that if any club came in for him from outside Norway they would help him make the move. But it seems now the situation is different,” Huseklepp’s father, Ingvald, told the Daily Record.
However, a representative of the SK Brann club commented: “It was a gentlemen’s agreement. There was nothing in writing but we shook hands and that handshake expired last summer.”
