Celtic star is a wanted man this January despite less than stellar Hoops form

|

Celtic defender Jack Hendry is a January transfer target for Hibernian, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Hendry only signed for the Hoops last year but has so far struggled to convince anyone he has what it takes to play regularly for the Scottish champions.

The Scottish Sun reckon that Hibs are interested in bringing him to Easter Road on loan as a direct replacement for another former Celtic star, Efe Ambrose, who left the club earlier this month.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers recently commented on Hendry’s future, telling the paper: “Jack and Lewis [Morgan] are out here with us, training, and then we’ll see when we get back. I spoke to both of them and they are great guys as well. So yeah, there is an interest in a number of our players. Some of these boys we will be looking to get them out on loan to get them games.”

Those comments would seem to open the door for a club like Neil Lennon’s to come in and make a move, offering the 23-year-old regular first-team football that can only help his development.

Hendry needs to improve massively before we can think about giving him regular starts in a Celtic shirt.

Rodgers’ comments may also be a hint that we’re looking at bringing in another first-team centre-back during the January transfer window, which would certainly excite supporters heading into the closing stages of the Scottish Premiership.
