Celtic are interested in signing Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka ahead of the summer transfer window, with manager Neil Lennon personally scouting the player on Monday, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say the £4.5m-rated player is being tracked by a number of big sides in France, as well as Fiorentina and Hamburg, after an impressive season in Ligue 2.

He’s also been scouted by massive clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona in recent months, according to the report.

It’s our interest that is obviously most relevant to us though and with Lennon in attendance to watch the player during Paris’ match at home to Valenciennes on Monday, we’ve clearly done a fair bit of work scouting the player prior to that.

This is 19-year-old Wamangituka’s first senior season in professional football and he’s scored nine goals in 27 matches for the second-tier side.

It’s not the most prolific record but given it’s his debut campaign it shouldn’t be read into too much.

Watching some of his goals for the French club this season, it’s clear he has a raw power and pace that would be attractive to the Hoops and since we are looking to replace Oliver Burke and Timo Weah’s presence in the first-team squad this summer he could be an exciting signing.

One to watch over the coming weeks and months.
