The PFA Award shortlist was released this afternoon and as Celtic players dominated the player led vote, there was one surprising omission that infuriated former Celtic striker Chris Sutton.

Taking to twitter the outspoken pundit said, “The best player in Scotland this season has been Cameron Carter-Vickers by a stretch… how is he not on the list??”

Celtic players dominate the shortlist with captain Callum McGregor, and the Wizard of Oz Tom Rogic both being nominated for the prestigious award.

In the Young Player of the year award, winger Liel Abada is the clubs only nominee.

Carter-Vickers has been immense at the heart of the Celtic defence this season.

With the best defensive record in the country, the American has been in brilliant form and quickly became a fans favourite due to his tough tackling and calmness on the ball.

The Hoops support will be very keen to see the 24 year old join the club on a permanent basis this season.

Speculation on his future has been at fever pitch ever since American news outlet SBI Soccer announced that talks between the player and club have reached an ‘advanced stage’ on a permanent agreement.

With fee being mooted at around the £6m mark, many would see that as a bargain for a player that still has his best years ahead of him.

The anti-Celtic mentality in Scotland shouldn’t surprise Chris.
It was around long before he arrived and will be around long after he’s gone!
Let’s face it, there have been perfect examples in past years of stand out players in the hoops not even being nominated! Victor Wanyama springs to mind the year the award was given to an unheard of guy from Motherwell!
I tor wasn’t even nominated that year yet everyone raved about him week after week!
