Chris Sutton is probably the most outspoken Celtic pundit in the media.
Not afraid to criticise the club when it is needed but also fair and balanced in his praise.
He also loves to wind up our rivals at every opportunity but even his punditry on them is fairly balanced.
So I was surprised to hear him make this title claim, but I can understand why he did it.
Speaking on The Monday Club podcast, Sutton said, “I thought Celtic missed Giakoumakis and his physical presence.
“They couldn’t get up the pitch. I think Rangers played on that. I don’t know how long he is out for.
“I think that is a big deal Celtic getting him back. But the next game is so important.
“I still think there is a title race on.”
Title race is still on.
Well, of course it is. But the odds are hugely stacked in Celtic’s favour with a six point lead and huge goal difference gap it would take something special to reverse that top of the league lead.
With Celtic’s league form red hot, unbeaten since September, it looks highly unlikely but supporters of a certain vintage will remember Helicopter Sunday where Celtic had a five point lead with three games to go, anything can happen in football.
So why was I surprised Sutton said it? Well, he does love a wind up and never took his opportunity………
