It doesn’t take long for the abuse and nonsense to start when the team in blue lose an important fixture.

As Rangers looked to try and get to only their third major cup final in ten years, the expectation was that the Ibrox club would go on and despatch Hibs to book a place in the final against Celtic next month.

Celtic defeated St Johnstone 1-0 in yesterdays pulsating early evening kick off where the Hoops, after 79% of the possession, only managed to breach The Saints backline once with comeback king James Forrest returning from injury in style.

As Hibs now look forward to facing the Hoops on the 19th December, Chris Sutton tweeted his congratulations in his usual wind up style.

And as his twitter feed lit up like a Christmas tree, there was, sadly, those fans that simply take the wind up too far and retort with personal abuse.

The target of the abuse? The passing of Sutton’s pet Buster not so long ago.

Anyone that has lost a family pet knows the pain it can cause and in a sickening show of disregard for Sutton or his families grief, the abuse began not long after the final whistle:

As Celtic look forward to a long overdue trip to Hampden, Ange Postecoglou has the opportunity to add silverware to his early tenure at Celtic Park.

With many Hoops fans not expecting any trophies in Ange’s first season, the big Australian just keeps impressing the Parkhead support with his style of football and recent run of results.

But before the cup final, Celtic have important fixtures to look forward to starting this Thursday in Germany as they face Bayer Leverkusen to try and keep their Europa League dream alive.
