The summer transfer window might be miles off at the moment but these things tend to creep up quickly and the rumour mill never stops.
If we want to keep ourselves ahead of everyone else for the coming campaigns, too, we will need to make some big signings in the window – after what happened last year that is clear.
However, our chances of keeping Filip Benkovic appear to have taken a pretty significant knock in recent days with him telling an outlet in his home country that he wants to be in the Premier League.
In quotes delivered via Sportske, he said:
“I want to make another step at the end of the season. I want to show that I can play in the English Premier League.”
Clearly, then, he wants to be playing in the Premier League next season and so this is an indication we’re going to find it tough to keep him past the summer.
Perhaps, though, we felt as though that might be the case anyway and so there might not be much point in losing any sleep over it.
