And just like that, another transfer link pops up.

Not long after offering my opinion on who Celtic should be looking to move on as a matter of priority, journalist David Friel has claimed that Celtic loan flop Oliver Abildgaard could leave the club in a matter of hours with Aalborg being credited with interest.

The Danish midfielder was a summer deadline day signing from Rubin Kazan [BBC] and was hotly tipped to be that player that could provide cover for Callum McGregor should injury take him out the side for any length of time.

As it turned out, during McGregor’s two-month stint on the sidelines Ange Postecoglou bypassed the Dane and used a makeshift defensive midfielder in Matt O’Riley as cover and Abilgaard was used sparingly in some fleeting substitute appearances.

The 26-year-old has struggled to make any impact this season and has, in fact, not featured for Celtic since the league resumed after the World Cup break.

A total of nine appearances accumulated to just 156 minutes on the pitch [Transfermarkt] with his longest a 52-minute cameo against RB Leipzig, ironically, covering for McGregor on the night he got that injury.

Since then, the most minutes he has played in any one game was 25 against Hibs in a 6-1 win but he has also been used on two occasions as a 1-minute sub.

If that is not a hint that your future lies elsewhere then I don’t know what is.

With the transfer window almost close to an end take our quiz and test your knowledge on Celtic’s most expensive transfers.

Please don’t get me wrong here ,but when I read that David Friel who is a scoop with that bastion of educational wonderment -The Scottish Sun ,telling us this and telling us that , I tend to float off into a psychosomatic reverie …. With intentional ease !
