Celtic defender Saidy Janko is keen to avoid another cup shock having already been on the wrong end of one last season.

“I am very honoured but it definitely could have gone better” – Saidy Janko

The Swiss right-back was given his senior debut last August when former club Manchester United crashed 4-0 to then League One side MK Dons.

On Wednesday evening, Janko’s new club will once again be massive favourites when hosting Raith Rovers in the Scottish League Cup.

“For myself it was a good experience because not many players play at 18 years old for the first team of Manchester United,” he told STV. “So I am very honoured but it definitely could have gone better if we’d been at it.

“You can’t underestimate anyone,” Janko continued. “I was one of the younger ones and was trying to give my best but I think it was difficult for the other players to play with the younger players.”
