It’s all transfer talk today isn’t it?
Mostly all positive as Celtic add Australian, Riley McGree, to the ranks today after securing the £3m deal from MLS side Charlotte FC but it is another Australian that has been grabbing the transfer headlines over the last few weeks that was on Hugh Keevins’ mind on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
Speaking about the Hoops transfer business so far, the experienced journalist was asked his thoughts about the continuing story of Martin Boyle joining Celtic from Hibs and although Hugh believed he could do a job for the Hoops, he spotted one flaw that could prevent any deal taking place, “Celtic have a business model and this is to buy young players for as little as possible and then sell them on for as much as possible.
“Martin Boyle doesn’t fit the business profile.
“I have no doubt in my own mind that Martin Boyle will do a good job for Celtic, but the kind of money being mentioned, 3 million pounds, I do not see Celtic spending that amount of money when there is no sell on value after that, or very little sell on value.
“So it would be a good choice. Doesn’t seem the right business model.”
And as much as I don’t like to, I agree with him.
Boyle turns 29 this spring. I don’t think Celtic are of a mind of spending that kind of cash when you look at the transfers already completed.
Kyogo Furuhashi at just 26 years old, being the elder statesman in Ange’s transfer signings, secures the business model of Celtic as there is still ample time for sell on value should the Japanese star decide to move on later in his career.
Why doesn’t everybody just shut up and let Ange get on with it?
Celtic try to do their business quietly. They’ll let us know when it’s done.
I’m still trying to come to terms with Ewan Henderson going to Hibs ona free? What’s all that about? And they want us to fork out £3 million for a 29 old who will likely at best be a bench warmer when everyone else is fit. Madness.

Hugh Keevins is just a bitter old 3rd rate hack who has a problem with Celtic and has nothing good to say about them. Now he is a business expert. Enough said.

Martin Boyle is an addition to the squad as is the japanese bhoys, Boyle would be used as a winger for the injury prone forrest, get 3 yrs out of him for 3 million?? I’ll take that all day long m8
