I think, during my time as a Celtic fan, I have never seen so many late winners being scored by a Celtic side.

Now, when I write this, I am very aware that late winners for our club are something we are well used to, but the sheer volume and regularity of these over the last couple of seasons under Ange Postecoglou are just astonishing.

Growing up, the most iconic of late winners was Frank McAvennie’s two goals late goals against Dundee United in the 1988 Scottish Cup Final against Dundee United that sealed the double on our Centenary season.

That was incredible and a huge point in our club’s history.

But after Saturday’s late show again, Tom English highlighted just how relentless this team are under Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “I think both sides got what they deserved. Really disappointed with Aberdeen. They might say the end would have justified the means and fair enough if they got a draw, but they didn’t.

“So they leave this match feeling like they haven’t fired a shot and that they went into it in decent form. Good run of home wins. And they didn’t play like a side that had any confidence or any belief in their ability to beat Celtic.

“They all set out for was to frustrate and hopefully grab a draw. They didn’t get it. Celtic’s capacity to score late goals and win games continues.

“When you think back to Ross County early in the season to two goals in the last six minutes to win 3-1.

“A 95th-minute winner against St Johnstone. Two goals beyond the 90th minute to beat Dundee United for 3-2. An 84th-minute winner against Motherwell and now an 87th-minute winner against Aberdeen.

“They’re never done until they’re done. And Rangers must be absolutely sick to death of all of these late Celtic winners.

“It must be driving them scatty.”

It must be horrific for our rivals to watch this with such regularity. To know that no matter when you come up against us, you can be the victim of a late goal no matter how many men you put behind the ball.

And for the title challengers?

Social media is a great barometer of how they are feeling but I’m willing to bet that this just chips away at any glimmer of hope they ever had of winning the title.
