As Celtic continue their assault on the SPFL with just nine games to go, gaffer Ange Postecoglou is clearly not just busy on the training field but also in the transfer market.

With the Hoops being linked to Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer yesterday, the Sky Blues boss, Mark Robins has gave his reaction to the news [Coventry Telegraph], “I am not going to comment on speculation.

“It is just speculation.

“When something happens you will definitely know about it.”

With just over a year left on his contract, the report claims that the Dutch u20 midfielder is valued at around £5m. Well within Celtic’s reach.

Hamer was a £1.3m purchase from Dutch side PEC Zwolle in July 2020.

Since his move he has appeared seventy three times for the Championship side. scoring seven goals and creating nine assists.

At just 24 years old, he certainly fits that mould of an Ange signing and is also very versatile.

Hamer as been utilised in the central and attacking midfield areas as well as defensive midfield but can also play right back and  right midfield.

The utility man is also a Dutch champion after winning the Eredivisie with Feyenoord in 2016 and the Dutch Supercup in 2018.

When asked about his contract situation back in February, Hamer seemed open to keeping his options opened, “I haven’t spoken to my agent yet but he has said they are talking, so that’s fine and we see what will come and what will happen next season.

“I am really happy and I look forward to sign a new deal but I am not looking too far yet.”
