Moritz Jenz was, I think, a popular defender amongst the Celtic support.

Brought in on loan from Lorient in the summer by Ange Postecoglou, the big German defender done a great job filling in for the injured Carl Starfelt.

Jenz played every game in Celtic’s Champions League campaign and was one of the competition’s most accurate passers with a 94.3% passing accuracy. [UEFA]

He was also one of the most effective defenders in the competition placing 22nd in most clearances attempted and 33rd for most tackles won.

So it is fair to say he did a decent job for us in the short amount of time he was at the club.

With the return of Starfelt and Ange signing Kobayashi, Jenz was the January transfer casualty and he found himself on the move again as Celtic terminated his loan deal.

Next destination, Schalke.

Rotted to the bottom of the table, since Jenz has come in he has helped shore up their defence which has helped lift them off the bottom of the table.

When asked [Goal via Yahoo Japan] how he has managed to help his side concede only one goal in six games, Jenz said, “Of course, when new players come in, we can see a positive impact not only on the defence but also on offense

“Personally, I think I felt a good connection with Maya Yoshida early on.”

“We’ve both experienced the English way: he’s at Southampton and I’m at Fulham.

“We communicate perfectly in English and we complement each other really well from the first moment.”

“He’s very calm on the ball, he’s very positioned, I’m more of an aggressive guy and he’s in charge of running backwards. We can work together and we’re just a perfect match.”

Call yourself a true Celtic fan? How well do you know the European Cup winning season?

I really liked this guy ,he was a decent defender,I would have took him over Starfelt who is also a good defender, but hey Ange knows best ,good luck to big jentz.

4 teams in 2.5 seasons tells me there is a hidden issue with MJ. Why would a guy with his talent be a journeyman otherwise.
