What a headline [The Daily Record] this was.

Kieran Tierney to Real Madrid.

With the report claiming sources in Spain have said that the former Celtic left back is line for a sensational switch to the Bernabeau, Tierney has been earmarked as a possible player to replace the ageing Brazilian Marcelo.

And what a move that would be.

Tierney could make history as only the second Scot to join the Galacticos after Jack Harper penned a deal with the Spanish giants in 2013.  Although he didn’t make a single first team appearance, he was hailed as a wonderkid at the time.

Unfortunately for him, the move didn’t work out and he ended up moving to Brighton in 2015. He currently plies his trade for Racing Santander in the Spanish third tier.

There is absolutely no chance of that ever happening to Tierney.

An established Scottish international, the Scot is under contract at the Emirates until 2025.

Valued at over £50m, Celtic could be in line for a cash windfall of millions if the move to La Liga goes through as the Spanish giants look to strengthen.

It is not clear if an official approach has been made for the 24 year old but with the best years of his career ahead of him, Arsenal could command top dollar for him which would mean the Parkhead club could be quids in and have extra funds readily available for Ange Postecoglou to strengthen even more for next season.
