Kris Commons’ second hat-trick of the season against Kilmarnock has only strengthened manager Neil Lennon’s desire to hold onto his services.

“We were sensational in the second half and Kris is at the forefront of that” – Neil Lennon

The 30-year-old raised his own personal tally to 26 goals for the season to further extend the visitors’ massive advantage at the top of the table courtesy of a 3-0 victory at Rugby Park.

Lennon has already previously indicated Celtic will look to take up the option of offering Commons an extension to the three-and-a-half-year deal he signed in January 2011.

“Kris has had a brilliant season as he has now for the last couple of seasons, and goalscorers make the difference,” he told BBC Scotland. “He’s hungry, he’s only 30. He’s still got plenty of football left in him.

“We were sensational in the second half and Kris is at the forefront of that,” Lennon added. “He is so important to the way we play. We set the team up to suit him.”
