Everyone knows Odsonne Edouard has been tipped to leave Celtic in the summer. It’s been the worst kept secret this season and for many Celtic fans, they would not bat an eyelid at that transfer move. In fact, many would welcome it.

But journalist and pundit Mark Guidi says one other star may be heading for the exit this year and it is not the first time he has hawked this idea on The Go Radio Football Show.

Guidi says McGregor was close to the Parkhead exit door two years ago but after Kieran Tierney won his move to Arsenal, the midfielder was loyal to the club and stayed at Paradise, “There would be a number of clubs interested in him.  A couple years ago Brendan Rodgers wanted him. And what happened was basically Kieran Tierney kind of beat him to it to get out the door.

“And I think there was a decision made at Celtic boardroom level quite rightly, that you couldn’t sell Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor in the same summer window.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

“So Kieran Tierney got out to Arsenal and Callum McGregor had to bide his time. But there’s no doubt had Celtic decided to let him go, he probably would have ended up at Leicester  but the player decided to stay and respect the clubs wishes.

“But now we’re two years on, and he’ll be looking at Kieran Tierney and how he’s excelled at  Arsenal. He’ll be looking at John McGinn, but with the greatest of respect, he’ll be getting paid a lot of money at Celtic and deservedly so, but he could down there and triple his wages”

There is no doubt the Celtic fans would be livid if McGregor was allowed to move on this year. With the size of the rebuild being required, he is one player the Parkhead club can’t afford to lose.
