‘He is so quick and powerful’ – New Celtic Bhoy tipped to be a success this season

|

Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston has tipped new teammate Oliver Burke to hit the ground running at the Hoops, believing he has the skills to make an impact in the Scottish Premiership.

Johnston knows Burke well having roomed with him during trips with the Scotland U21s side and has seen up close the the attributes that the West Brom winger possesses.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Hoops prospect said of the 21-year-old:

After a couple of trips we had together, I got closer to him and we spoke more often. He’s a good guy and he’s also a really good player.

Oli is pretty athletic and can play in different areas. He’s seen as a wide player, but he can also play as a striker. I’ve seen him do that a couple of times and he is so quick and powerful.

It’s always a good thing for young players to be at Celtic because you do get opportunities and you get chances to play and show yourself.

The manager has said he wants to add to the squad and seeing new players coming in is a good thing for everyone at the club as well as the supporters. It provides healthy competition.

Although he’s only here for six months, hopefully Burke can show the kind of form that made him a much-hyped signing for RB Leipzig.

In the early stages of his career he seemed able to go past players with ease and that kind of raw power could give us a different dimension in the final third.

We’ve relied on James Forrest a lot in the first half of the season but he can’t start every game and Burke gives us a great option on the right flank, as well as other attacking positions according to Johnston.

The short-term nature of the loan isn’t ideal, but if he helps us win trophies, it’ll be a successful January signing.
