“He’s ahead of Christie.” – Pundit’s Scotland rally call up for Celtic star

With David Turbull showing his worth again to Celtic against Aberdeen on Wednesday night after his 25 yard goal which sealed a 1-0 win, the topic of discussion on last nights Clyde 1 Superscoreboard was whether the young midfielder should be due a call up to the Scotland squad for the upcoming Euro’s in the summer.

Host, Gordon Duncan and pundit’s Mark Wilson and Gordon Dalziel where all in agreement that Turnbull should at the very least make the squad, but the conversation turned to who would Turnbull get in ahead of?

Turnbull should be an absolute shoe in for a Scotland place on current form and Mark Wilson agreed, but not all the pundit’s thought the same, as Dalziel highlighted the competition ahead of the Celtic man, “What I will say is that in the last few months for Celtic when they were really struggling he stepped up to the plate, he’s got some competition ahead of him.

There is some competition ahead of him know there’s some fantastic midfield players. Even across the city, Ryan Jack’s come back and playing very well scored a terrific goal. You’ve got guys on there like McGregor, his Celtic team mate. You’ve even got Armstrong who’s producing and he’s produced in the Premier League”

Mark Wilson replied to that and said, “If they were going into Euros tomorrow, I take him all day long. Because he’s a guy who probably isn’t going to start, but if you’re looking for somebody, when you’re struggling or nothing’s happening  in the game to bring or whip in a set piece, put one in the top corner from 25 yards, there’s few better than him at this moment in time.”

“I think he’s outshining Christie at the minute. I think Christie has served Celtic well and scored some great goals, important goals, especially for Scotland, but if you’re talking form just now, I think Turnbull is ahead of him”
