With talk of Odsonne Edouard leaving Celtic in the summer there will be panic amongst the CEltic supporters at who exactly can take up the mantle from the big enigmatic Frenchaman.

Edouard has been in sensational form over the last four weeks.  Eight goal in six games and twenty overall for the season, is a great return for any striker who is in a team that is struggling to find form.

Speaking on todays episode of Open Goal with Si Ferry, ex Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie, couldn’t hide his admiration for Dundee United striker, Lawrence Shankland, and said that if he had the chance, he would have the Scottish international striker at Celtic over Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti.

Shankland has only scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Dundee United but McAvennie is convinced that playing around better players would bring out the absolute best in Shankland and the goals would be guaranteed, “I would take Shankland.  He would score goals.  Listen, take Klimala and take Ajeti out the picture, I’d take Shankland. All day all.  All day long.

Should Neil Lennon be Celtic manager next season?

YES

NO

“I liked him when he came into the Scotland team and a lot of people where saying he wasn’t ready. I liked his movement, his movement of a striker.  He’s like McCoist, if you like.  The ‘keeper drops the ball and he’ll be there.

“A lot of strikers just stand and watch and don’t anticipate what could happen.”

McAvennie certainly does make some very good points but is Shankland “Celtic class”?
