I don’t know how many times I need to step up and defend Carl Starfelt from the snipers in the media.
The amount of pundits and commenters on the game that have it in for the Celtic defender is unbelievable.
It is tantamount to nothing more than a media pile on and it is time it was called it out.
The amount of times I’ve highlighted this narrative can be seen below.
Starfelt was part of a defence that shipped the least amount of goals last season. He was also missed when he was out injured to the point that since he was out the team, Celtic conceded ELEVEN goals in two months.
That’s 6 shy of what was conceded in the whole of last season.
So for Hugh to come up with this bizarre statement is just baffling.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “One defeat in fifty-three games tells you that, defensively, Celtic are getting it right.
“I’ve just tried to put it into perspective. Cameron Carter-Vickers has been a good signing.
“Celtic got him at a reasonable price.
“He is, right now, the shining light at the back, but just keep it in perspective. It’s only my opinion.
“But I think Starfelt is bang average.”
He never based his opinion on anything. Never laid out any facts as I have done in this article.
Just bang average.
A bit like your punditry Hugh. But unlike you, I can back up my last statement with facts.

In my opinion, Keevins has a cheek to comment on Starfelt, who is far better at being a human being and doing his job than Keevins ever was or could ever hope to be. Keevins lacks sincerity.
To be honest he is bang slightly above average in a bang average league against other bang average players. Judge him in Europe and he is out of his depth. Celtic need to upgrade that position, hopefully wit Kobiyashi.
