Well, this is a statement and a half.

As the Celtic fans were waxing lyrical about the teams performance in the 7-0 rout of St Johnstone, many were saying that they have not seen football like that at Parkhead for a long time.

Even experienced journalist Mark Guidi was taken aback and he revealed that he had spoked to people behind the scenes when he was covering the match and what they said to him was very surprising indeed.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi said, “I was there on Saturday and  I don’t get to see the Celtic very often but I watched the game on Saturday.

“I spoke to a couple of people behind the scenes. Spoke to a couple well kempt faces as well that watch Celtic week in, week out.

“And my impression watching that 90 minutes was, that’s as good as I can remember Celtic in a long, long time.

“In terms of the desire from the first minute to the ninetieth minute, Ange Postecoglou is still going on,  still giving a couple of players stick for not making the right choices in possession with two minutes to go and their seven nil up.

“And the other thing I noticed as well, when Celtic get a goal kick, before you can blink, the ball boys are on the touchline throwing a spare ball at Joe Hart and the balls back and play again.

“There’s no respite and that by the way, that’s at seven eight minutes.

“But anyway, my point was I thought that’s as good as I can remember Celtic in a long, long time and the question I posed to a few people that watch them all the time was, “Was that better than Brendan Rodgers invincible team?” and I asked five people and the five people said, “Yes, right t now under Ange Postecoglou, it’s better than Brendan Rodgers.”

“And I though that’s quite a statement.”

So what do you think? Do you agree with Guidi?

Is the football we are watching now better than Rodgers Invincibles team?

I think so.

As good as it was against St Johnstone, I have to say no, this team is not as good as The Invincibles who were very, very, special.

The present team still have a lot more to do and to achieve before they reach that unsurpassed level. The signs though are very encouraging and I am looking forward to further progress from all of them in the future as Ange continues to build his dream team..

I think people saying that they are better than the Invincibles are still holding grudges against Brendan and are letting their feelings be swayed by his perceived betrayal. However the players were magnificent, heroes every one of them, and we should never forget the sheer joy they gave us in that incredible season.

When the present side can beat the Huns 5-1 twice in the one season, I might just change my mind about them.

I think the football is more entertaining although it remains to be seen whether we will be as successful as it’s hard to play at that tempo all the time and we also need to ensure key players are brought in as permanent signings CCV, Jota there still seems too much that can go wrong with that style of football entertaining as it is.

‘Well kempt faces’? Come on. I know you people are setting the bar pretty low, but seriously. Do a bit of work.
