There has been loads of talk over the last week of player coming and goings, and now Celtic seem to have finally found their man to lead up the revival for next season, the rumours will be coming thick and fast over the summer.
With Kristoffer Ajer confirming that he wants away next season to head up a new challenge, one defender that has been setting the heather on fire is Jack Hendry. Hendry has just returned from a storming season in the Belgian Juliper League with KV Oostende, where he was awarded the leagues ‘Best Player’ after helping Oostende to their highest league position in years.
His performances have earned him a call up to the Scotland squad for the Euro’s and after an impressive goalscoring display against Holland during the week, all the focus is on whether or not the Belgian side will take up the £2m buy out clause in the loan contract.

With Hendry being the subject of much speculation, one journalist reckons he is going nowhere and fully expects the Scotland international to be at Celtic Park in the coming season. Speaking to The Go Radio Football Show, Mark Guidi said, “I’m still not overly convinced by him, but then, I think that he certainly show that a good calibre on Wednesday and took his goal very well.
“But I think the way things are going in Celtic, I would expect Jack Hendry to be a Celtic player next season. Because looking at it, if you regard him as a Celtic player just now although he always been on loan, he is probably the best central defender that’s fit and available at the club.”
The best central defender at the club. That certainly doesn’t bode well for the future, but you’ve got to roll with the punches and hope, for all our sakes, that Hendry comes good in the green and white Hoops.
