Celtic’s transfer speculation is certainly ramping up now.

With the recent speculation that Alex Collado is of interest to the club [Express], the fans will be watching on eagerly to see who will be next to join the club in the coming weeks.

The added speculation that Ross Barkley was a target over the weekend inspired this suggestion by a Celtic fan on A Celtic State of Mind.

The fan commented on the show saying we shouldn’t be looking to sign Barkley at all and said the club should go after his teammate, Scottish international Billy Gilmour.

Dykes said simply, “I would have him in a heartbeat.”

And co-host Colin Watt agreed, “He’s a fantastic player. An absolutely fantastic player.

“His performances for Scotland at such a young age, considering he’s not playing week in, week out either.

“He’s absolutely dynamic in that midfield. His performance against England in the Euro’s as well.

“He was just absolutely outstanding. I think if you had the opportunity to bring someone like Billy Gilmour to Celtic, you would take that in a heartbeat.”

Gilmour has been labelled as a wonderkid when he signed for Chelsea [90min] but has only made 22 appearances for the club since his move to the London club in 2017 [Express].

He moved to Norwich City on loan last season but couldn’t help the Canaries avoid the dreaded drop.

Gilmour signed a new deal at Chelsea this summer which takes him to 2024 [STV News] so any future move for the player is likely to be another loan.
