On the blog yesterday, I had written about how Ange slapped down the media narrative that is surrounding the club over the last few weeks.
You know the one, the ‘lucky’ one.
It has crept into the game ever since a certain manager from another club made the claim whilst ironically moaning about how much money we have spent since Ange took over, and since then the media seem to be trying to slip in there every so often.
But Ange is wise to this. Ange knows what is going on here and he is one step ahead of them all.
Ange was asked about Maeda’s goal against Livingston when it was suggested that the Japanese forward got ‘lucky’ and the gaffer retorted, “You love that word (lucky) don’t you? It’s just so easy!
“How many runs does Daizen make in a game? It was a product of his hard work, anyone who watches Daizen sees he’s constantly making runs and constantly in those areas.
“There were a couple of times he lacked a bit of composure but he’s always there – that’s why he gets his goals.”
Plain, simple and concise. Hard work and determination get Maeda into positions where he has the opportunity to score. Nothing lucky about it.
But former Celtic defender, Mark Wilson missed the point entirely when he said, on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson said, “Ange Postecoglou says a lot of things that make a lot of sense, but I’m not having that.
“Listen, he gets on the end of things and sometimes he doesn’t have quite the clean connection but I’ll still give him praise for being in the right areas.
“However when someone hits you with the ball from half a yard away off your face and you’re turning away and it goes in the net…yeah, yeah.”
Wow. Did Wilson not listen to Ange?
Has he completely bypassed the manager’s point?
Let me remind him: “Anyone who watches Daizen sees he’s constantly making runs and constantly in those areas.”
Now, I get it. I understand that for the purposes of the podcast he appears on he needs to have a controversial opinion to encourage people to call in the show. I get it.
But please don’t just say stuff for the sake of saying ‘stuff’.
It makes you look daft.
Is Mark Wilson trying to advertise his availability to the Sun or the Record as a columnist ,hoping one will give him a job ? That’s the quality of his journalism ! Maybe that’s the strategy for every wannabee scoops nowadays . Talk utter garbage and get noticed !
