Reports today are emerging that young Celtic defender, Jeremie Frimpong is a target for Serie A side Roma.  According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Celtic have apparently slapped a £13.5m transfer fee on the young Dutchman.

Frimpong joined Celtic from Manchester City in September 2019 and became an instant hit with the Celtic fans.  His popular phrase “Oh my days”, went viral after Celtic’s 1-0 Betfred Cup final win against their city rivals.

The wing backs speed and skill down the right is something Celtic fans haven’t seen since the days of Didier Agathe back in the early 2000’s and the Hoops fans love his dynamism.  Frimpong is not quite the finished article as yet as some feel he needs to work on the physical side of his game and his final delivery into the box.

Frimpong is struggling to find the same kind of form that took the Scottish game by storm when he burst on the scene but the Celtic fans will be confident that this will return sooner rather than later to help the team push for their tenth title.in a row.

If the rumours are correct and Roma come in with a bumper fee, Manchester City will be due 30% of any price paid as part of the deal.

The Hoops fans will be hoping that Frimpong sticks around at Celtic Park for a while longer to continue his development, as at just 19 and with three years left on his deal the young defender has plenty of time to hone his skills and earn his big move.
