The January transfer window is looming and for Celtic it’s a difficult one to navigate.

After the failures of the summer, fans are expectant that real ambition is shown in the new year and given his public comments and aimed barbs, the same could probably be said of Brendan Rodgers.

The manager made it no secret that he was unhappy his targets weren’t delivered in the last transfer window and next month is a chance for the Celtic hierarchy to get things right.

One of the looming problems is in the central defensive area, with Dedryck Boyata’s contract situation still not sorted out. Despite his recent hamstring injury, it seems likely that clubs were return for his services in the new year, with his current deal at the Hoops set to expire at the end of the season.

That means we’ll probably have to find a replacement to compete for places alongside Filip Benkovic, who is also leaving at the end of this season, Kristoffer Ajer, Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic.

Who that will be remains to be seen but we do know of one player who has interested Rodgers recently – Scott McKenna.

The Aberdeen stand-out was the subject of a failed Celtic bid in August and although he remains on a long-term contract at Pittodrie, there’s every chance we return for him in January, especially if we lose our Belgian star.

The 6ft 2in Scotland international has been in good form for the most part this season and produced a pretty decent display against us in the recent Scottish League Cup final.

Celtic fans have generally appeared to be disapproving of signing the 22-year-old, but after another half season has opinion changed on the player?

Do you think Celtic should make a renewed bid to sign Scott McKenna? Have your say in our poll below…
