They don’t have a manager or a backroom team or even any money, but already, the Rangers media men are hawking players to the Ibrox side.

But not just any player.

Hearts defender, John Souttar, has been linked with a move to the Hoops on many occasions this year.

As the Scottish international enters the final year of his contract, many have touted him to make the move to Glasgow.

Vital Celtic have covered this story on numerous occasions but according to Barry Ferguson, when asked on The Go Radio Football Show if he thinks Souttar could be wearing the blue of Rangers next summer, the former Scotland midfielder said, “It looks a real possibility. First and foremost, great to see him back playing on a regular basis.

“He’s had an horrendous couple of years with the Achilles injury. Ruptured it twice, but that’s a serious injury.

“Great to see him back. I thought he was excellent [for Scotland] with the header. A really good goal.

“He’s a player I think has got real potential to go onto bigger and better things.

“If he becomes available for the price they are saying, £500,000, I think it’s a chance Rangers AND Celtic should be taking.”

I don’t know how a club that requires £7.5m to keep them running until the end of the season, that also requires player sales to facilitate any incomings would be able to afford half a million pounds and wages to a Scottish internationalist?

And the best part? Ferguson’s view wasn’t even challenged by fellow pundit, Davie Provan or Paul Cooney.

Incredible.
