Celtic’s charge to the league this season has had more ups and downs than a rollercoaster.

From having a stuttering start losing three games in the first six fixtures to now being absolutely dominant with a 32 game domestic unbeaten run, Ange Postecoglou really has galvanised this club and it’s players.

There is one player though that could, potentially, be on his way out of Celtic in the summer according to Kieran Devlin.

Writing in his column in The Athletic, Devlin said, “In 2020, Celtic had accepted a bid from a Qatari club for their Wizard of Oz, and all that prevented a departure was Rogic’s unwillingness to leave.

“The Qatari club were offering a substantial pay package, and for Rogic, who is incredibly close with his friends and family and suffered from homesickness during his first few seasons in Glasgow, being thousands of miles closer to his homeland was an important selling point.

“But he was not ready to leave Celtic. He had unfinished business, and wanted to win one more title.”

“With one year left on his contract, it remains uncertain as to whether Rogic will stay on past this season.

“If Celtic win the league, he might consider that unfinished business of two years ago finally put to rest and move to an Asian league to be closer to Australia. The club would owe him a significant debt.”

Hopefully a new contract is in the offing for the Australian but if the pull for home is too much for Rogic, would anyone really deny him the opportunity to return closer to his homeland?

After the season he has had this year? Certainly not.

It’s 22 hours uk to Oz and 16 hours Qatar to Oz, it’s hardly round the corner is it? What a ridiculous article. If he wants to go to top up the pension, or to play in the sunshine, or to leave the Glasgow goldfish bowl then fine, he will always be an important part of the club’s history. He isn’t going to Qatar to be close to home otherwise he would go to Japan or China.

That would mean throwing away the chance os playing in the biggest European tournament – I really can’t see that. Most comment in The Athletic (and a couple of others) reads to me like an article by someone has been tasked to produce stuff on Celtic without knowing very much
