I’ll admit, at the time I didn’t even notice this happen.

But apparently, there was some controversy surrounding Celtic’s second goal that Motherwell manager, Stevie Hammell claimed that should have led to the winner being chalked off.

I wrote about it here earlier today where Hammell bemoaned an apparent infringement committed by Sead Haksabanovic with a throw-in that ultimately led to Maeda’s brilliant second goal.

Explaining what went on at the time on BBC Sportsound, former Celtic keeper Pat Bonner explained what he witnessed, “Stevie actually called it absolutely right in that interview.

“The ball went out of play and Matt Penney got the ball and went to take it quickly up the line.

“And Haksabanovic was in front of him and he’s gone and hit it off his head.

“I didn’t know if he was off the pitch which probably should maybe be called in,  but when the ball dropped in and Haksabovic turned and played a brilliant ball through to Maeda who scored a goal, from well inside his own half. It was right in front of us here and we’re up in the stand.

“So I thought it was a big mistake by Matt Penny at the time, because I thought he could have thrown it back.

“I think it was Shaun Goss had picked up a great position, just sort of on his right, and he could have easily played it back to him.

“But listen, you call it as a mistake. He was trying to speed the game up because they were putting Celtic under pressure at that time, but ultimately it led to Celtic’s second goal and that’s what killed him off.”

Not quite Pat. It was David Turnbull that played the pass through to Maeda but we get the point.

I covered why the Motherwell manager was wrong in this article where footage of the incident is available. Penney got it all wrong.

100%.

Like I said before, instead of the Motherwell manager moaning about the events leading to the goal, maybe have a word with the person who COST you the goal.

I’ll give him a hint. It wasn’t the ref or Haskabanovic.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?

I keep hoping our board will grow a pair and complain about the crap that goes on. That tackle last night for example, then the hand ball at ibrox not even discussed we may be 7 ahead but if we get pegged back do not complain then.

When you’re correcting our bonnet for mistaking who made the pass, you should atleast get correct who the ball was thrown off.
You said at the beginning “an infringement by Josip juranovic” but it was halsabanovic.
