Celtic winger Lewis Morgan is a January transfer target for Scottish Premiership side Hibernian, according to The Scotsman.

The paper say that Neil Lennon is considering his options after attacker Martin Boyle suffered a potentially season-ending injury in international action with Australia last week.

The report explains that Hibernian have already made an enquiry to the Hoops about a potential loan move for Morgan, who is seen as a viable replacement for the 25-year-old.

Morgan arrived at Celtic during the summer transfer window having starred for St Mirren in their promotion from the Scottish Championship but he has yet to put himself into serious contention for a starting spot in Brendan Rodgers’ team.

The £675,000-rated winger (Transfermarkt) has made 13 appearances, which isn’t bad for a debut season, but 12 of those have come from the bench.

The recent signing of Oliver Burke has only pushed him further down the pecking order and moving out on loan to get regular action under his belt can only be a positive to the player and ultimately to Celtic.

We’ve seen in recent years that time away can greatly benefit a Hoops prospect, with the most notable examples being current stand-outs Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie.

This is one to watch throughout January.
