Celtic midfielder Scott Allan may not move to Hibernian this January despite signing a pre-contract with the Easter Road side.

The 27-year-old signed a three-year contract to join up with Neil Lennon’s outfit at the end of the season but the Hibs manager has admitted that a deal to bring him to Edinburgh early could go down to the wire.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said of the situation: “I don’t know where we are with that. Obviously that might go to the last couple of days of the window, I would imagine.”

What the hold up is we do not know, but it’s possible Celtic are looking for some sort of fee for the player, or at least some sort of loan deal that would mean they don’t have to pay his wages for the remainder of the season.

It appears all parties are at a stalemate at the moment, but hopefully it’s all sorted out, for the benefit of the player and Celtic.

Allan played 17 times for the Hoops but failed to force his way into first-team plans on a consistent basis, spending the majority of his Celtic Park stay out on loan at clubs in Scotland and England.

It can only be a good thing if he is off the books.
