Scott Brown has big career decisions to make in the immediate future, according to Daily Record journalists Keith Jackson and David McCarthy.

Brown dropped out of Brendan Rodgers’ team after suffering an injury back in October, leaving a vacuum in the Hoops team for teammate Callum McGregor to fill.

The 25-year-old has stepped up big time, raising questions about Brown’s role at Celtic over the coming months.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, it’s a situation coming to a head even if all parties insist there is no drama.

Asked if it’s the beginning of the end for the Celtic captain in Glasgow, Keith Jackson had this to say in The Record this morning: “There is some serious interest in Brown from a number of clubs in the States and Australia. The skipper has a big decision to make and he’ll have to make it soon.”

His colleague David McCarthy was of a similar mind, stating: “If Scott Brown wants to stay there is a contract there for him but I’m not sure he’ll be content to be a bit-part player, particularly when clubs in Australia and the US could offer him a life-changing opportunity.”

It’s hard to predict what will happen next with the dressing room leader. Brown doesn’t strike me as the kind of person to be happy sitting on the bench when he feels he still has football left in his legs.

At the same time, the prospect of him leaving to move to Australia or America feels unlikely, especially with sensational milestones like ten-in-a-row potentially on the horizon.

With coaching also on the table when it comes to Celtic, perhaps he’s best served staying in Glasgow even if his playing time is cut over the next couple of years.
