Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic will sit out Australia’s match at home to Lebanon on Tuesday after suffering a knee injury in their recent clash with South Korea.

Rogic played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s match but received a minor knock that will keep him out of action, according Australia manager Graham Arnold.

As quoted by Fox Sports, he said: “There is a short turnaround to Tuesday’s match against Lebanon so Tom [Rogic] and Robbie [Kruse], who both performed well on Saturday evening but have minor knee and groin injuries respectively, won’t be risked.”

It’s pleasing to hear no risks will be taken when it comes to the player’s fitness, with Celtic facing an enormous six weeks of action before the turn of the year.

The Hoops play 11 matches between now and the end of 2018, starting with a fixture away to Hamilton this coming Saturday.

Although Rogic will sit out of the Socceroos’ next match, it’s unlikely he’ll be risked for that one if he’s carrying a knee injury, minor or not, with the Accies’ artificial pitch potentially causing problems.

With a huge match away to Rosenborg and cup final against Aberdeen in the two matches directly after that, it’s important Rogic is fit for those ones.
