This wasn’t the news we were expecting. After Celtic’s resounding 4-0 win over Ross County on Saturday, there was a fear that influential midfielder, Tom Rogic, could have been out long term after that crunching tackle that saw Ross County defender Kayne Ramsey receive a red card.
It was hoped that the tackle wasn’t as bad as first feared when Ange was asked about Rogic in his post interviews.
On BBC Sportsound, Ange said, “He got a knock on his ankle that wasn’t great.
“We spoke to him at half time and he said, hopefully, it wasn’t too bad.”
And on Sky Sports Scotland Ange said, “He’s pretty sore. We’ll see how he is.
“Obviously he’s going to want to go on international duty as he’s an important player for Australia.
“I think, from talking to him at half time, he said he didn’t feel too bad.”
It turns out that the injury is worse than first feared as Marco Monteverde dropped the bombshell that Rogic has now pulled out of international duty with the Socceroos.
This will leave Ange Postecoglou sweating over his fitness for the upcoming Glasgow Derbies in April where the destination of the league and Scottish Cup could be determined in a hectic month that is vital in the Scottish calendar.
Hopefully, the details of the injury will become a lot clearer over the coming days and Celtic fans will be hopeful that the next two weeks will give Rogic time to rest and recover in time for the month ahead.
