With Cameron Carter-Vickers seemingly heading to Parkhead permanently after last nights reports, the latest one to hit social media is that of Portuguese winger Jota.

The 22 year old was a revelation for Celtic at the start of the season as he dazzled fans with his trickery and pin point passing. Injury curtailed his progress under Ange Postecoglou and since then. he has failed to recapture that early season form that made the supporters desperate for a permanent move to be announced.

Now the feeling amongst the fans is that the priority for the team is CCV and Jota would be a bonus.

But there were rumours trying to emanate from Portuguese Twitter that quite frankly should be ignored.

M10 twitter account tweeted out yesterday,  “Celtic may not advance by Jota 📍 The player has lowered his income in recent games and the 7 million is considered “excessive”. The club prioritizes the signing of Carter-Vickers who has been one of the highlights this season.”

Should Celtic sign Jota permanently?

YES

YES

NO

NO

And Futportuguese also said,Celtic from Glasgow , considers not going ahead with the definitive purchase of Jota .

“The Portuguese player 🇵🇹 saw his “performance” decrease, which made “The Hoops” not go ahead with the definitive purchase of the same. Jota should return to Benfica at the end of the season.”

Both accounts are less than a year old and have less than 2k followers between them.

Not entirely credible is putting it mildly and Celtic fans will need to get used to these social media dwellers using the clubs name to try and boost their profile and following.

I think they’re basing that (incorrectly) purely on articles from Celtic sites, including TheCelticBlog IIRC, postulating such theories. Nothing but speculation from all sides at this point, we’ll just need to wait and see…

He’s a fantastic footballer on his day, can take on and beat men at ease, whip brilliant balls into the danger area, but needs to work on his link up play more, and his shooting; never seen such a talented forward hit row Z as often as he does!
