Neil Lennon is excited by the arrival of winger Maryan Shved at Celtic this summer after his exceptional form in the Ukrainian top-flight throughout the 2018/19 season.

Shved signed for the Hoops during the January transfer window but was immediately sent back out on loan to the selling club Karpaty Lviv for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old has scored six goals in his last five appearances for the club, part of a 14 goal and four assist attacking contribution for the season.

He’s emerged as one of the most exciting youngsters in his homeland and was rewarded with his first full international cap in November of last year.

Lennon can’t wait to see what he can do in Glasgow, telling The Daily Record:

I think we are all excited about him coming into the building. He looks a very exciting prospect so hopefully get to see him soon.

Whether I’m the manager or not, we would like to be more forceful in the final third with pace and energy and people who can break the lines, people who can get behind the opposition.

Playing predominately on the right wing, with the ability to feature through the middle too, Shved will likely be competing with James Forrest for a first-team place, who has had quite the season himself with 16 goals and 20 assists.

Celtic play a long season though, usually beyond 60 matches, so having another quality option in the position is vital if we are to compete on multiple fronts again next year.

Everyone is eager to see whether Shved is the player who can take our attacking game to the next level.
