Neil Lennon’s thoughts are turning towards Christmas and more particularly how many points his side can pick up over the festive season.
“I`d imagine the players will be even more up for the game after two weeks off, so there will be a real hunger to play” – Neil Lennon |
The Celtic boss is hopeful this weekend’s game at Hamilton can go ahead after successive postponements against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen have left his charges kicking their heels.
Those same players face a testing schedule of five games in fifteen days over the Christmas period and therefore might end up quite thankful for their recent break.
“There`s a lot of football to be played,” Lennon told the Glasgow Evening Times. “I`d imagine the players will be even more up for the game after two weeks off, so there will be a real hunger to play.
“There will also be a bit of freshness about them too, hopefully, so this week is important. We have to prepare them as best we can, but they will all be looking forward to playing again.
“The players are very good,” he added. “They`re very motivated to be successful this season and they know the last two results haven`t been what was required.
“But going into the Christmas period I know they`ll be very motivated to turn that around.”
