Niall McGinn is approaching the end of a five-month nightmare after being ruled out with a broken metatarsal.

The 23-year-old Irishman scored twice as he continued his comeback for Danny McGrain`s Celtic XI while defeating Falkirk 3-0 at Westfield on Tuesday afternoon.

“I was just glad to get back and, thankfully, I was away playing and not just training,” he told Celtic’s official website. “I was delighted to get back scoring again and get my confidence back. I was also glad the manager was there watching and he seemed pleased after the game.”

And now McGinn has real hopes of playing some part against Old Firm rivals Rangers at Parkhead on Sunday – which would be his first after previously being an unused substitute.

“It would be unbelievable,” he added. “Obviously I grew up watching the Glasgow derby, so the opportunity to play in one would be unbelievable.

“If I get the opportunity to play, I`ll just enjoy every minute of it but, more importantly, is having a win at the end of it.”
