More Banners. More Unrest. But is it too much?

|

As more banners are unveiled at Celtic Park tonight it is clear that the board are now firmly in the sights of the Celtic supporters and it doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon.

The level of discontent amongst the fans has never been as high as it has been in the last few weeks and after the demonstrations against Lennon and his team over consecutive weekends it is now the Celtic’s boards turn to feel the wrath of the fans.

Now no-one can doubt that board has backed the team financially in their quest for the “Ten” but the handling, or mishandling, of the Lennon situation and the Celtic’s board ever increasing disconnect with the fans is what has spurned on this latest fan protest.

With banners displaying “You can’t hide forever“, “Desmond, Lawwell, Lennon the men who blew the 10!“, “FC not PLC“, “Sack the board” the message is loud and clear.  The boards inaction to halt the decline of a season that started with so much promise is what has angered the supporters and the longer this debacle continues the more these protests will carry on.

With one more disturbing banner with the message  of “Shoot the board“, this banner should be condemned for the idiocy it is.  It is akin to a banner displayed against the Whites and the Kelly’s back in the 90’s when the club almost went under. This has no place at Celtic Park.

With another European tie due to be played tomorrow night and a Scottish Cup Final less than 10 days away, the board will be hoping for better performances and results to relieve some of the pressure currently being heaped on them.
