As the dust settles on the Glasgow Derby, and Celtic assess their options on the managerial front, ex Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill, has given his seal of approval to a candidate for the vacant Celtic manager’s position whilst simultaneously ruling himself out of the running.
O’Neill, currently plying his trade on Sky Sports as a match day pundit, says that his time at the club has passed and that the Celtic board should be considering his ex international assistant for the job, “I’ve had a great time here but my time is gone. The torch has been passed and it’s up to other people now.
Roy Keane for next Celtic gaffer?
“My own personal view is that owners and chief executives are missing a trick by not thinking about Roy as their manager.
“That is my view. He has learned a great deal and he is very capable of taking a top job.”
I’m sure it is not a position shared by many Celtic fans and it certainly isn’t an appointment I would expect would encourage the Hoops fans to part with their hard earned cash to renew their season tickets, unless the appointment is backed with a serious amount of cash made available for new players.
That money could well be in the offing as claims were made just before the weekend that there is going to be serious investment in the club not only on the managerial front but also in the first team. That will certainly be good news for the Hoops fans as they are desperate to see some light at the end of the tunnel off the back of such a catastrophic season.
