Neil Lennon will be much revered by the vast majority of the Celtic support for all that he has accomplished at the club.

Then there will be a section that will never forgive him for his part in last seasons catastrophe that saw the club win nothing for the first time in over a decade.

But now it seems he has now moved on as he landed the Omonia Nicosia job in Cyprus late yesterday afternoon.

Today he opened up on his move and revealed that his stay at the current Cypriot champions could be short lived, “I got a phone call from an agent at the weekend saying that Omonia would be interested in taking on my services,” he told talkSPORT.

“I did a bit of research on it, spoke to representatives of the club, the president and had a look at some of the recent games. I have to say I was quite impressed by the standard and attitude of the players.

“They are the current champions but haven’t had a great season this year but are still in the cup competition which we obviously want to try and progress in.

“That’s the target now, finish the season well and try and win a trophy.

“I had a good time at Celtic. It didn’t end well but I’ve been at Hibs and Bolton and done over 500 games.

“I sort of spent a lot of time in Scotland and wanted a new challenge and Omonia are going to give me this new challenge.

“There is always the opportunity to come back again anyway, but for the short-term and the next sort of year or so my full focus is going to be on Omonia.”

I hope Lennon has put the demons of last season behind him. More importantly, I hope the Celtic fans have as well.

As Ange rebuilds the club and is on the verge of taking us to the title and a possible Treble, it is time to leave the Lennon baggage at the door and wish him well.

The constant underhanded comments and inferences of the blame for our failings last year being down only to Neil Lennon are infantile and frankly, wide of the mark!
Neil Lennon did more good for our club as a player and in his two stints as manager than most managers we have had in our history!
Constantly working under blatant hatred from the SFA/SPFL, Scottish media, much of the bigotted public and pathetic Scottish government who all failed him miserably, Neil Lennon’s record can stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best and most successful managers in our history.
Neil will forever be a Celtic legend and more of a Celtic than most!
    Good luck Neil.
