Bookies insert new name in the race for Celtic manager’s position

|

A new name has entered the bookies race to become the new Celtic manager.  Recently dismissed Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has been installed as third favourite (6/1) now behind Eddie Howe in second place (7/2) and Rafa Benitez in first (8/15) according to Talksport.

Lampard was removed from his post this morning after just 18 months in charge of The Blues and incredibly was Chelsea’s FOURTEENTH manager in EIGHTEEN years.

Would Lampard be a good fit for Celtic?

There is no doubt Lampard is a winner.  Over the course of his playing career he has won 3 English Premier Leagues, 4 F.A. Cups, 2 League Cups, Europa League and a Champions League. He was appointed manager of Chelsea in July 2019 on a three year contract and when many were predicting mid table mediocrity due to his inexperience at managerial level, Lampard took Chelsea into the Champions League group stages.

Lampard was heavily backed in the transfer window in the summer and spent over £200m on the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech but even although he has led the London club into the last sixteen of the Champions League and less than a month ago they were looking like title contenders, Lampard was given his marching orders this morning after a run of two wins in eight games in the Premier League.

Would Celtic fans be happy with what would be regarded as a “rookie” manager taking over the Parkhead hot seat?
