A report from an English media news outlet, Leicester Mercury, has claimed that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is about to sign for English Premier League side Leicester City.

The media site has claimed that The Foxes have beaten off competition not only from fellow EPL teams Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham but incredibly also Borrusia Dortmund and Edouard’s former club, Paris St Germain.

Details have also emerged the French u21 international received  a personal phone call from Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp, as the German tried to persuade Edouard to join him at Anfield.

Klopp was prepared to offer Divok Origi as a sweetener to push a potential deal over the line should Edouard agree to join The Reds.

It is thought that Edouard is desperate to rejoin former boss, Brendan Rodgers, at The Foxes and has his mind set on a move to City. The report claims that ‘sources with knowledge of the situation have told us that Edouard is almost certainly heading to the King Power.

Edouard is about to enter the final year of his contract at Celtic and it was initially thought that the Parkhead club would need to accept offers lower than what they value their star man, but with interest in the classy hitman almost at its peak, Celtic may find themselves in the driving seat of a potential bidding war.

Edouard was a revelation when his £9m from PSG was completed in 2018 after a year long loan, and even though he has suffered a dip in form, the striker is still Celtic’s top goalscorer this season.
