I like polls.

Especially on my own site. I don’t run them half as much as I should but I think that will change as the year goes on.

The reason I love them is because it gives a good indication on how the Celtic fans feel about a specific Celtic related issue.

For example, this poll here where I asked if the new recruits brought in on the January window will help bring the title to Celtic Park grossed over 2200 votes with 94% saying they will.

A decent sample size to make an observation on how the Celtic fans feel about the January transfer business completed by the club.

Or this poll here where I asked, when Ange was appointed, if he was the correct man for the job. Over 8000 votes and 63% said yes, he is.

Another great sample size that shows where the supporters opinions lie.

The Go Radio Football show ran a poll last night posted at 520pm asking “Is fan criticism of Mikey Johnstone unfair?”.

The show airs from 5pm-7pm so the poll hadn’t been running for too long but the host Paul Cooney aired the result just after 6pm where he claimed that 74% of the fans said that the criticism of Mikey was not unfair.

But they also claimed that 27% said it was. You do the math.

Wow I thought. So I headed over to the poll on Twitter which you can view here, and how many votes do you reckon where cast in that forty minute period?

A major radio station in Glasgow at peak time? 3,000? 5,000? 7,000?

65.

Sixty five measly votes and they passed that off as a factual opinion that the whole of the Celtic fanbase believe that the current criticism Mikey currently gets is fair.

I would be embarrassed if I ran a poll like that and tried to pass it off as fact.

In fact, my bosses at Snack Media would probably tell me to take it down.

And they would be right to do so.
