Ange Postecoglou really means business this winter window.

With one signing already in the bag, the Celtic boss is looking to add to his ranks if recent reports that Canadian international Alistair Johnston is being targeted are to be believed.

Another transfer story has emerged today linking the club to Egyptian international attacking midfielder Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdy.

Afsha currently plays for Al Ahly and has twenty international caps to his name.

The Glasgow Times has claimed that reports from Afsha’s homeland in Egypt say that Celtic are looking to bring him to the club in January on loan.

Although the origin of the reports is not made clear by The Glasgow Times, this site did report back in November 2020 that there were rumours that an agent was drumming up interest in the midfielder to Celtic, much to the annoyance of Al Ahly’s Director of Football.

Afsha has made over 255 first-team appearances in a career spanning four clubs. He has scored a total of 47 goals and created 51 assists.

He has also picked up the following honours [Transfermarkt]:

1 x Egyptian Championship

1 x Egyptian Cup

2 x Egyptian Super Cups

2 x CAF Champions League titles

2 x CAF Super Cups

The man is clearly a winner and would fit into this ambitious Celtic side who are competing for yet another domestic treble.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
