This is a transfer story I don’t really see happening to be honest.
Not because I don’t think Celtic don’t need another striker because I do.
I have mentioned many times on this site that it may be time to try and get a striker that will help us compete at Champions League level as Kyogo and, to a certain extent, Giakoumakis just couldn’t quite cut it at the top table of European football.
But here is the question I have for you.
Is a striker currently playing at Championship level in England going to be any better than we have at the moment?
I can’t imagine he would be. But according to Football League World via the Sunderland Echo, Ross Stewart is a target for Celtic as the Sunderland striker has yet to agree on a contract extension at The Black Cats.
Stewart is a Scottish internationalist and in 214 first-team appearances in his career, has scored just 79 goals. That’s a goal every 2.7 games [Transfermarkt]. He also has two caps for Scotland.
Kyogo scores a goal every 79 minutes for us [Footy Stats] whilst Giakoumakis gives us one every 96 minutes [Footy Stats].
It was Stewart’s scoring record in League One that helped gain Sunderland promotion to the Championship with 24 goals in 46 games and this season, so far, he has scored 5 goals in 7 outings in England’s second tier.
I’m just not that convinced that the frontman is any better than what we already have at the club.
K don’t think he would fit into Celtic_fc_1888 sevco have been chasing him so maybe scoottish media making it look at uf sevco beat celtic to the players name cause truth be told unto glasgow teams want a player I think if it comes to money Celtic_fc_1888 no contest
Nonsense story
Explain
Maybe we should consider signing Rod Stewart
That’s probably the same attitude our management had when they dumped Ivan Toney and bought the dud Ajeti instead.
So you think he’s better than what we have already?
