Celtic’s transfer business in January is certainly something that is catching all the headlines.

Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis are the two main transfer protagonists and both are expected to leave the club this window.

But a new rumour emerged today that has linked young Stephen Welsh with a move to Croatian outfit Hadjuk Split.

The Scotsman reported this morning that Hadjuk are ‘monitoring’ the Scotland u21 international situation at the club and that ‘Celtic would command a sizeable fee for Welsh as he is tied to the club until 2025.’

It’s not the first time Welsh has been linked with a move away from the club.

Udinese were reportedly interested in the youngster in the summer but a move never materialised.

Welsh has featured sparingly this season under Ange Postecoglou and with the Celtic boss preferring Moritz Jenz over the young Scot whilst Carl Starfelt was out injured, the addition of Yuki Kobayashi only further compounds his fall down the pecking order now that Jenz is also out of the picture.

I would like Welsh loaned out for a season. Give him a full year of first-team football away from Celtic and then make a permanent decision on his future then.

Remember, Callum McGregor was a late developer at the club and after a successful spell at Notts County did the now Celtic captain then start to make his mark on the team.

Celtic hold the record for most Scottish Cup Final wins. Who scored the winners in these TEN finals?
