The Scottish Premier League has expressed its surprise following the early cancellation of two of its games upon police advice.

“I am slightly surprised that the police have issued advice so early” – SPL’s Neil Doncaster

The fixtures featuring Celtic v Kilmarnock and Dundee United v Motherwell have already fallen victim of the adverse weather conditions.

“I am slightly surprised that the police have issued advice so early,” SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster told BBC Scotland.”Especially when a substantial thaw is forecast over the next two days.

“When police advice is on the grounds of safety, we have no choice but to postpone the games,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hamilton Academical’s home meeting with Hibernian also remains a doubt and will be subject to an inspection on Friday.
