Talksport pundit in ludicrous “next Celtic manager” claim

|

Talksport host, Jason Cundy, has made a sensational claim on his show this morning that Celtic could do well to land Wayne Rooney as their next manager in the summer.

Cundy reckons that the Hoops board should follow their rivals lead and look to brining in a box office name like Gerrard to help turn things around at the club.

The former Chelsea player has suggested  player has suggested that former legends of the EPL would be an ideal fit for the Parkhead club should they be looking to replace current manager, Neil Lennon.

Cundy said, “Last year Rangers imploded but this year there’s not even a title race.

“Rangers have had a brilliant start this season and continue to do so – Steven Gerrard is making a right name for himself.

“It will be interesting to see who takes the Celtic job because I can’t see Lennon hanging on after this season.

“I just wonder who might be tempted up there, because what Steven Gerrard has done, Wayne Rooney for example, Frank Lampard after he’s won the title.

“Steven Gerrard has gone up there and made a name for himself.”

Cundy’s remarks are way wide off the mark. Celtic cannot afford another “project manager” and to suggest that we go down that route again with an untried and untested manager really shows how little knowledge he has not only of the Scottish game, but the size of the club Celtic are and the demands and expectations the supporters have.  Our rivals across the city may be content with winning no silverware for season upon season until the gamble eventually pays off, but Celtic fans would not stand for it.
