Know what I love? Former football players that have never set foot in our country never mind played football in our league trying to tell us how to run our game.

Especially from a radio station that continually knocks our game whenever it can.

Talksport never baulks at an opportunity to run our game down. It makes no secret of that the presenters on certain shows think of our game as second rate.

Terms like ‘farmers league’ regularly thrown about by followers of the station tells you all you need to know about how our game is viewed south of the border.

And here we have former Arsenal defender Martin Keown telling us all, incredibly, how he thinks Celtic should distribute the cash they earn from the Sydney Tour.

Speaking on Talksport, Keown said, “It’s all about money isn’t it.

“And survival, and finding ways, clever ways for them [Scottish teams] to be able to compete on the European stage.”

“Of course, they will have a Champions League team now as we talked about earlier, but nevertheless if they’re going to attract top players they have to have the revenue sources and it simply isn’t there.”

“If they do a game like that, with the two sort of giants of the league go to Australia, then maybe half of that money should be shared with the rest of Scottish football, or certainly the Premier League in that country.

“Because how do they [other teams] compete otherwise?

“They’ve already got this disparity which will come in with the Champions League money, and I know some of that’s distributed.

“I think it’s only about £300k to £400k, which is something for the teams that are lower down in the Scottish Premier League.

“But this distribution of wealth should be shared among the other clubs.”

So that’s that then.

I suppose Man City, Newcastle, Man United and Chelsea should all distribute their wealth into the other EPL teams so that it makes their league more competitive as well then?

And what I find even weirder is that on one hand he claims that Celtic should find clever ways to generate cash to compete in Europe but in the other, we should give it away to other clubs in the same league?

Oh, and by the way Martin, Scottish clubs in the SPFL get anything up to £350,000 EACH should Celtic qualify for the Champions League.

If you are going to comment on something at least do some basic fact checking first.

Strange lot, it’s like the Scots slagging the Welsh or Irish leagues everyday of their lives, if Scotland is such an irrelevance then why does The Scottish league trouble their thoughts so much?.. to me it seems to be a petty dislike of the Scots nation because “obviously” the Scottish game is of no threat whatsoever to them, or so they keep telling us. Funny how they don’t slag the Spanish (superior to the English league), German or Italian leagues on a regular basis, but a strange troubling of the English psyche over our game, as I say, a strange lot.

How about Sky give Scottish clubs a cash payment from the Premiership billion+ equal to the per capita ratio of Scottish viewers.
